Forming Smarter Players
Founded and led by Oscar Feliu, FutStars Academy is designed around advanced training methodology and pedagogic science to strategically enhance conceptual or integral learning, overall performance and self-motivation.
The main program objectives are that a FutStars player understands how to interpret the rapid changing scenarios during game play (Perception), are able to choose the best possible solutions (Soccer IQ) and are proficient in executing their decisions (Athletic - Technical Ability). We accomplish this by creating a high-level training environment combining Soccer, Futsal and opportunities to compete against international competition.
We develop players to:
1- Know how to observe what is happening on the field.
2- Are able to make the best decisions possible.
3- Are technically very proficient so they can properly execute their decisions during game situations at high speeds.
These are the 3 components required to be a complete player and reach full potential.
Training sessions are structured to be competitive and with intensity to maximize player's touches on the ball and decisions on the field based on the goals to improve perception, decision and execution:
1- Functional Technical + Integrated Coordination / Agility
2- Technical – Tactical exercises to increase game understanding
3- Game Situation (Soccer / Futsal Component)
The result is smarter players with all the necessary skills to express their creativity on the field

We are proud of having the players' interest as our first priority. Our coaching staff has a genuine love and passion for the game we want to teach and that translates through all of our programs. We believe there is a lot of untapped potential in every child and that with the right training environment and guidance they can flourish. Providing a training environment that is of high quality, competitive and intensive but at the same time enjoyable can help shape a young child into a person with good values and a life-long passion for our sport.
OSCAR FELIU
Founder & Owner
Oscar was born and raised in Lleida, Spain where he played professionally in the Spanish National 3rd Division for seven years until moving to the United States in 2010.
Oscar has a strong background in youth development with over 18 years of coaching experience between Spain and the United States. During his coaching career in Spain, Oscar worked alongside some of the most recognized soccer coaches in the world, including former director of F.C. Barcelona Youth Academy Albert Benaiges, and former technical manager of Liverpool F.C. Academy and current General Manager of F.C. Barcelona, Pep Segura.
Oscar has completed top coaching education credentials in both Spain and United States. He has a Master’s Degree in Sport Science (soccer specialization) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education from the University of Lleida (National Institute of Physical Education of Catalonia, Spain), which is the highest soccer degree obtainable in the Spanish education system. Oscar also has a UEFA “A” Coaching License.
In the US, Oscar was one of the few directors invited nationally to complete the prestigious USSF Academy Director course and has also obtained the USSF “A” License.
OMAR ISMAIL
Director of Player Development
Omar is an enthusiastic coach with a passion for developing and mentoring intelligent, creative and technically proficient players, currently holding a USSF "C" License and selected for 2020-2021 class of the NSCAA's 30 Under 30 Program.
Ismail brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience locally and overseas. He played for professional and semi-professional clubs in the United States, Egypt, Holland, Denmark, and Australia. As a youth, he played locally for Reston, Arlington, DC United Academy and U23 teams, and collegiately for Bryant University and University of Mary Washington. During his travels, he has been able to shadow and observe coaches at professional clubs AFC Ajax, FC Utrecht, Telstar FC, Hellerup IK, ENPPI, Benfica FC, DC United, Brisbane Roar FC and Moreton Bay United FC.
Omar previously coached with Joga SC, Alexandria Soccer Association and Reston Soccer Association and has been instrumental in directing the Futstars program since 2017. As Travel Director at Sterling Soccer Club, Ismail joined in 2018 and immediately made a positive impact on the Academy teams, players, and families. Under his leadership as head coach, the homegrown 2007 and 2010 boys Travel Academy teams have emerged onto the regional scene after establishing themselves as top teams in the region in their respective age groups.
